The Theory page 3
Being freed from instincts’ insistent influence is like climbing out of a vast flowing river and being freed from its current. We're in the conscious realm where we have the capacity to focus our attention in whatever direction we choose.
So far we’ve stared almost exclusively at the physical world that gave us birth, like a child hanging onto its Mother’s skirts.
There is no shortage of examples of our fixation with physicality. Consider the emphasis placed on physical appearance, our obsession with sexuality (having a physical relationship), materialism (obsession with physical belongings) and of course physical science’s obsession with physical proof.
Ironically, our Mind's existence is the other half of the equation. The mind, the vehicle for all our observations, goes almost unnoticed by science. It has no physical existence. And any time we are awake and conscious, it exists in a different dimension.
From there we gaze mesmerized by the diversity dancing before our eyes, completely identifying with whom we are physically. We go around thinking that that we are the body’s consciousness, stuffed in our own heads
